Peer Supporters

Peer Support is a system that has been set up within our school to improve behaviour through enhancing self-esteem and interpersonal skills. Many pupils from our year 4, 5 and 6 classes have been trained in basic counselling skills, such as effective listening, positive regard for the person they are talking to and confidentiality. All training is done prior to them starting their role as a Peer Supporter. All Peer Supporters receive weekly supervision and guidance from Mr Dean. This is a time when pupils will voice their concerns and opinions about the school with their team and staff.

The Peer Supporters have been involved in setting up their own code of conduct and they are now encouraged to monitor their own behaviour within the school and be effective role models to others across the school ranging from our early years children to our older children in Key Stage 2.
