Pool Hayes Primary is delighted to have an established a ‘Rota Kids’ group. This is a younger version of the Rotary Club; a worldwide organisation which helps communities less fortunate than ourselves. Members of the Willenhall Rotary Club came to an assembly to present the group with their badges. In addition, the President, Vice President, Treasurer and Secretary were awarded with special medals of office. This group of children will be active in organising fund raising events within school which will help individuals in our community, nationally and worldwide. They already oversee the fundraising activities to support the 'WaterAid UK' charity whose vision statement is:
"Our vision is a world where everyone everywhere has safe water, sanitation and hygiene."
We will report on the accomplishments of the Rota Kids in the school newsletters and the Pool Hayes Express. We wish them every success this year!
Willenhall Public Speaking Competition
Every year Rota Kids, from schools around Willenhall, meet for a public speaking competition. The children, in pairs, pick topics that they are interested in and focus on engaging the audience with a main speaker and a chair person taking a supporting role. This year our two stars were from Year 6 and did an outstanding job of thrilling the audience with their chosen subject - the basics of first aid and water safety. You can see them opposite with their excellent certificates of achievement. Well done girls; next stop the News at Ten or perhaps even the Houses of Parliament..!
